WEBPAGE
STILL UNDER CONSTRUCTION
Are you new to the Lewiston
Dog Show?
We created this
webpage for newcomers just like you. We'll include some hints and
insights that should help you better enjoy your Lewiston Dog Show
experience.
We strive to keep this event enjoyable and
affordable. We appreciate your
partnership in achieving
these goals!
About this Show:
Our Lewiston Dog Show event occurs for four (4)
consecutive days (Friday through Monday) on the third (3rd) weekend
in April of each year. Show site location is the Nez Perce
Fairgrounds in Lewiston, Idaho.
Show cost: You'll find that our Entry Fees
and other costs are typically lower than many other shows in our
region. We do this on purpose - as we continue in partnership with
our dog fancy community to keep this annual event alive and
thriving.
Conformation, Obedience and most
Rally Events are held indoors and the Rings are matted.
Reserved Grooming areas are available for a
small fee and the reservation form can be found in our
Premium or you
can download our
Reserved Grooming 2008 form. If you need Reserved Grooming, plan ahead and
mail your reservation request well in advance. Lots of electrical
outlets.
Not-Reserved Grooming (Open) areas are
available, although this is a small area that is usually quickly
taken after the show site opens to exhibitors on Thursday. Some
electrical outlets.
Large Dog Wash area with running Hot and Cold
water.
Reserved Parking for Campers and RVs is
available for a small fee. Click
HERE to learn more about
Reserved Parking.
It's important to plan ahead and mail your
Reserved Parking Request Form well
in advance.
Limited Potable Water available. Local
Dump Site for RVs.
Daily Parking
is available on-site for a small daily fee and you cannot
pre-reserve this type of parking (you just show up). You can also
pay for all 4-days' parking at once and get a slight discount. Daily
Parking fees are due upon arrival in the parking lot. The Nez Perce
Fairgrounds Parking Lot is very large, mostly paved and is On-Site
at the east side of the main building. (Only show committee and
reserved parking can park elsewhere on premises - Daily Parking is
for everyone else).
Vendors are by
invitation only. However, we welcome applications from all vendors.
We reserve the right to select only those vendors we want at our
show. Generally speaking, we usually have vendors for various dog
supplies, for food (human and canine), photographer, semen
collection/storage and more.
Weather:
The good news is that
the Lewiston Dog Show is held completely indoors, with the exception
of a couple of the Rally dates.
During April,
Lewiston weather can be unpredictable. Quite often, the days can
become fairly warm and then the weather will significantly cool as
the sun goes down. Some years, our days have been very hot while
other years brought days that were quite cold. Once in awhile, it
may even snow. So it's a good idea to keep updated on local weather
forecasts (like the one found on our website) and plan accordingly.
It's wise to always
bring a moderate coat or jacket and other items to protect from
cold, sun, rain and wind. Plan on fairly cool mornings and evenings,
at the least.
Even though our venue
is completely indoors (except 2 days of Rally) and grooming areas
are generally inside a shelter, your dog(s) may need extra weather
protection, as well. It can be a good idea to bring along items to
help provide shade and relief from a blaring sun, refuge from
possible strong winds and/or rain and protection from very cool
mornings and evenings.
For April, average
daily high is about 60 degrees and average daily low is about 40
degrees.

Local Area:
Lewiston, Idaho is
very connected with Clarkston, Washington. These two towns are so
close together that, if you're not a local, it can be easy to leave
one town and enter the other without knowing it. Basically, the two
towns are divided by the Snake River. Lewiston is East of the Snake
River and Clarkston is West of it.
Coming down
southbound (from the north) on US-95, you'll come down a very steep,
winding and long hill to get into Lewiston.
Coming in from US-12,
you'll drive along the Snake (Clearwater) River as you come into
town.
When you come into
Lewiston from US-12 or US-95, you'll want to turn southbound onto
21st Street. Be aware that 21st Street becomes Thain Road. Also, be
aware that 21st Street (aka, Thain Road) is a VERY steep and long
hill.
21st St (Thain Road)
is a busy road with lots of shopping and restaurant opportunities
between about Main Street and 19th Street. Most area hotels are not
too far from this area, as well.
If you're arriving in
Lewiston from either US-12 or US95, you'll need to drive (climb)
Thain Road (21st Street) in a southbound direction if you'd like to
head toward the Nez Perce Fairgrounds (show site).
